Ecopod Te Whau Coastal Loop walk, Nov 10th – guided by wonderfully knowledgable local Ian Burrows around this stunning coastal area

Glowing Sky – Northern Coast Magic, Nov 14th – spectacular walk along some of the best coastal paths on the Island. This FREE walk has fabulous merino clothing voucher prizes!

The Oyster Inn Classic Coastal Walk, Nov 16th – incredibly beautiful walk AND oysters and bubbles with lunch

Allpress Olive Groves Walk, Nov 17th – for lovers of olives and olive oil with the fabulous Anne Stanimoroff

The Heke Adventure Walk, Nov 20th – wander through pristine bush on private land – end at The Heke for beer and whiskey tastings

Have you spotted our amazing billboards dotted around the regions of New Zealand, like this one in Taupo? We are grateful to Go Media for this wonderful coverage and support, and hope to see more walkers from near and far joining us here from November 10th.

We are delighted with the continued support from Gary Wilton at Make Tracks. Gary was one of the founders of the Walking Festival back in 2010.

“The walking festival will always be special to me.  Having been there from the start there are so many good memories, good friends, good learnings”

Gary says, “At Make Tracks we find happy places and make them easy to get to – no wonder we love the walking festival.”

Check out these fabulous steps built by Make Tracks down to Anzac Bay.

Reminder …

Most walks can be cancelled only until the end of October if you require a refund. Cancellations are done easily on your My Walks page once logged in, and email Vicki to request a refund if required. Thanks for doing a great job managing your bookings 🙂

To join a waitlist, click on the walk and there will be a red button saying Join Waitlist – yes, it’s that easy.

Don’t forget we have a wonderful training programme written especially for the Festival by our Festival ambassador and Island fitness guru Sarah Gloyer. She has a great page on Festival Bullet-proofing, some sure fire ways to get your bits and bones strong! Click HERE to see how to get fit in time for your walks.

The Great Waiheke Kākā Count

Take part in a citizen science initiative to understand the abundance of kākā on the island while you’re out enjoying the magnificent outdoors during the Waiheke Walking Festival. Whenever you see or hear kākā this November, fill out the webform HERE to share how many, where, and when. It takes less than a minute to complete. Simply keep the link open on your phone before you start a walk or keep a paper record and enter the information at the end of the day.

Your observations will help build a picture of how these beautiful bush parrots are recovering locally. This initiative is jointly promoted with Native Bird Rescue and Forest & Bird – Hauraki Gulf Islands.

For a wonderful walk and talk about restoring birdlife and trapping pests, why not join Te Korowai O Waiheke locals for this fun, informative walk on Saturday 19th November. Click HERE for more details and to book.

Happy walking everyone,
Your Festival Team
Vicki, Kate, Tess, Linda, Mandy, Judy, Sarah, Olly and Anna
